The people who truly understand us know that the way to our hearts is by filling our arms with pounds and pounds of Concord grapes from their garden. Every September, our dear friend, Fran, does just this. When there are no more mason jars left for jelly, we make cordial. And where there is cordial, there will be cocktails and certainly a toast to our Francesca.
1/2 oz. Grape Cordial
1 1/2 oz. Gin
4 Splashes of bitters (recommend peppercorn bitters)
1/2 Lemon (juiced)
Combine ingredients on ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain. Enjoy.
They say that friends who travel together stay together. This twist on the classic Aviator cocktail is for those rare friends with whom we measure decades using the adventures we've had together as our yardsticks. Raise your glass, tip it in the direction of your favourite co-pilots and savour a lifetime of unforgettable memories.
1 1/2 oz. Gin (we prefer Empress 1908 Gin for this recipe)
1/2 Lemon (juiced)
1/2 oz. Simple syrup
8 Splashes of black pepper bitters
Combine ingredients on ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain. Enjoy.
As one does when preparing for high-stakes cross examination, according to one seriously badass lawyer we know: expect the bully (enter, chili bitters), expect the fake friend (enter, the sweet), expect the business-type (enter, gin) and in the end, it only lasts a few hours (as ephemeral as a Crème de violette).
1/2 Tangerine, juiced
1/2 oz. Lemon (juiced)
1 tsp. Crème de violette
1/2 oz. Triple sec
1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Gin
Dash Splashes of black chili bitters
Combine ingredients on ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain. Drop a Maraschino cherry into the bottom of the glass for full effect. Enjoy.
